Rani Mukerji couldn’t stop praising Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s latest directorial ‘12th Fail’, starring Vikrant Massey in the lead role.

Good movies always leave an impact on the viewers, regardless of some commercial components like a big banner or a massively successful actor. ‘12th Fail’ is one such film. The 2023 Vidhu Vinod Chopra directorial, which stars Vikrant Massey in the lead role, is based on the true story of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma. The 2023 Hindi movie, co-starring Medha Shankar, Anant V Joshi, Anshumaan Pushkar, and Priyanshu Chatterjee, was a commercial and critical success as it was well-received by fans and critics alike and grossed over Rs 50 crore in India.

Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji, who was present at the Mega Pan India Roundtable 2023 organised by Galatta Plus, recently praised Vikrant Massey’s ‘12th Fail’.

Speaking about the hit film, she said, “I think you must watch 12th Fail. It's a brilliant film made by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and I absolutely went mad watching the film. I was blown, I think it is a story of India, it's a story of what happens with crores of youngsters who are coming from small towns. In India, we don't have dearth of stories.”

Rani Mukerji added, “If you watch 12th Fail, you will see how brilliantly and beautifully Vidhu Vinod Chopra has brought the story. I was completely blown because such noble characters, such fantastic characters, and it is a real story. It is not a story which is borrowed or something which is written by a filmmaker's imagination, it is a true story.”

She continued, “Vidhu Vinod Chopra's craft as a director and the way he has brought forward the story is just amazing. Like for me, it was the film of the year. I just watched the film four days back. I called Vidhu Vinod Chopra, and probably said Vidhu it is probably your best film. I cannot tell you how brilliant the film is and it talks about India. It is India and it is the struggle of all the youngsters in India and everything is brilliantly shown.”

Recently, Vikrant Massey took to his Instagram account and shared a heartfelt note dedicated to director Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

For the unversed, '12th Fail' is based on the 2019 non-fiction book by Anurag Pathak about the real-life story of Manoj Kumar Sharma who overcame extreme poverty to become an Indian Police Service officer.

Reportedly, Vikrant Massey has a bagged a role in Rajkumar Hirani’s next. Touted to be a two-hero film, it might also star Ranbir Kapoor.

For the unversed, Vikrant Massey is known for his work in Bollywood and web series. He began his acting journey in the television industry. His breakthrough came with the hit TV show ‘Balika Vadhu’.

Transitioning to films, he showcased his talent in movies like ‘A Death in the Gunj’, ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ and ‘Love Hostel’. He became a household name with his roles in ‘Mirzapur’, ‘Criminal Justice’ and ‘Chhapaak’.
