Ranveer Singh Replaces Shah Rukh Khan In Don 3: Report
As per a report, Ranveer Singh has apparently replaced Shah Rukh Khan in the much-awaited 'Don 3'.
Ever since some media reports claimed that Shah Rukh Khan had decided to step away from 'Don 3', fans were eagerly waiting to see who replaces the 'Pathaan' actor in the much-awaited new Hindi movie. Finally, we have some answers as in the latest entertainment news. If a media report is to be believed, it would be Ranveer Singh who would be replacing SRK in 'Don 3'. For the unversed, Ranveer Singh has previously worked with the producers of 'Don' franchise -- Excel Entertainment, in films like 'Dil Dhadakne Do' and 'Gully Boy'.
“Following Shah Rukh’s exit, the makers of Don 3 were looking for a popular and bankable name who could take the Don legacy ahead. And they have finally zeroed in on Ranveer. This association has borne fruit in the past and it will be no surprise if the collaboration proves to be another runway hit. We’re waiting to see how fans of the Don franchise react to Ranveer’s casting considering Shah Rukh won over everyone with his charismatic portrayal of Don,” News18 quoted a source as saying.
It has also emerged that the makers of 'Don 3' would also be dropping the official announcement video very soon.
“The audience is awaiting the announcement will bated breath. In fact, the video featuring Ranveer has already been shot and the production house is planning to release it without further delay,” the source added.
As per another news outlet Pinkvilla, in order to make the ‘Don’ franchise bigger, Farhan Akhtar and his team had also come up with an idea of bringing three generations of Don together – Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and a gen-next star – to lay down a platform for the generational shift of Don.
However, SRK felt the idea of spinning ‘Don’ universe would be gimmicky and hence advised the team about his exit. Farhan Akhtar, who will be directing ‘Don 3’, is working on a fresh script of ‘Don’ reboot now.
For the unversed, Amitabh Bachchan featured in ‘Don’ back in 1978. The same was rebooted with Shah Rukh Khan in 2005.
Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s banner Excel Entertainment bought the rights of the Amitabh Bachchan’s 1978 film of the same name and remade it with Shah Rukh and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the lead. The first installment of ‘Don’ released in 2006 and the second installment came out in 2011 with SRK and Priyanka reprising their characters. Both the films were directed by Farhan Akhtar.
Meanwhile, Farhan Akhtar is presently busy with the pre-production of his next directorial ‘Jee Le Zaraa’, starring Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and Ali Bhatt.
Talking about Ranveer Singh, he will next be seen in Karan Johar's 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani', alongside Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan.
