Ranveer Singh, Prasanth Varma Not Making ‘Rakshas’, Hint At Future Collaboration
Ranveer Singh's film 'Rakshas' with 'HanuMan' director Prasanth Varma is not happening now.
Ranveer Singh, who was last seen alongside Alia Bhatt in Karan Johar’s 2023 Hindi movie ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, is known for his impeccable acting prowess and eclectic fashion sense. Making his Bollywood debut with ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’, Ranveer Singh went on to deliver memorable performances in films like ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’, ‘Padmaavat’, ‘Gully Boy’, ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, and more. He will soon be seen in Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham Again’. The Bollywood actor was also set to collaborate with 'HanuMan' director Prasanth Varma for ‘Rakshas’. However, their film has been shelved.
‘Rakshas’ was to be bankrolled by Mythri Movie Makers, a leading production house in the Telugu film industry. The makers issued an official announcement citing reasons behind the big decision.
Entertainment journalist Himesh Mankad took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “And now it's official #RanveerSingh and #PrasanthVarma part ways on #Rakshas.”

As per Pinkvilla, the official statement released by Ranveer Singh, Prasanth Varma and Mythri Movie Makers read, “Recently, rumours have been going around that the film Rakshas which was said to be directed by Prasanth Varma and headlined by powerhouse Ranveer Singh - the duo, decided to part ways on the project due to creative differences. Amid speculations from various industry sources, the makers and actor have now cleared their stance and addressed the ongoing developments. Prasanth Varma, Mythri Movie Makers and Ranveer Singh have now clarified with their official statements.”
Ranveer Singh mentioned, “Prasanth is a very special talent. We met and explored the idea of a film together. Hopefully we will collaborate on something exciting in the future.”
Prasanth Varma said, “Ranveer's energy and talent is rare to find. We shall manifest our forces combining soon sometime in the future.”
Ranveer Singh, Prasanth Varma and Mythri Movie Makers agree that everyone's intentions were right to make it happen but “something's sometimes aren't meant to be at that time. The team shook hands with a promise to associate in times to come.”
This comes days after it was reported that Ranveer Singh opted out of Prasanth Varma’s ‘Rakshas’ due to creative differences.
“Ranveer had travelled to Hyderabad in April for a photo shoot to announce the film. While all the plans were set, the official announcement has now hit a roadblock. Ranveer Singh will no longer be a part of Prashanth Varma’s Rakshas. They have amicably parted ways due to creative differences,” a source told Pinkvilla.
Reportedly, the story of ‘Rakshas’ was set in the pre-independence era with a mythological backdrop.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh will be next seen in Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham Again’, co-starring Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Deepika Padukone.
He will also star in ‘Don 3’, directed by Farhan Akhtar and co-starring Kiara Advani.
On the personal front, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are expecting their first child together. The couple, who got married on November 14, 2018, announced the big news on February 29 this year. They shared a post with the due date - September 2024.
