“Really Hurt” Rashmika Mandanna Reacts To Her Deepfake Video Going Viral On Social Media
Rashmika Mandanna took to Twitter and put out a strong message against such malpractices.
In this day and age of social media, the fine line between public and private has worn thinner with each passing minute. Anything that you say or do, can easily go viral. For some going viral comes with its advantages while for others, it’s an unwanted burden. Add AI (artificial intelligence) into the mix, and content creators now have an easy way of morphing anything they want as real, with many unable to differentiate between fiction and reality. Once such incident took place recently, and that too with one of the most popular faces in Indian cinemas. South Indian beauty Rashmika Mandanna found herself at the wrong end of a deepfake video, which went crazy viral on social media, so much so that Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan also reacted to it. And now, Rashmika herself has responded to the fake video, calling it “extremely scary”.
Rashmika Mandanna took to Twitter and put out a strong message against such malpractices.
“I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online,” tweeted Rashmika.
“Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me, but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused.
“Today, as a woman and as an actor, I am thankful for my family, friends and well wishers who are my protection and support system. But if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can’t imagine how could I ever tackle this,” she added.
The actress, who will next be seen in ‘Animal’ opposite Ranbir Kapoor, also called on the countryman to address this issue as a community.
“We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft,” wrote Rashmika.
