“Some Of My Co-Stars…”: Sharmin Segal Addresses Her Comments On Sanjeeda Shaikh And Aditi Rao Hydari
Sharmin Segal has been on the receiving end of incessant trolling after featuring in ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’, co-starring Sanjeeda Shaikh and Aditi Rao Hydari.
Sharmin Segal has been on the receiving end of incessant trolling for her performance as Alamzeb in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’. The Netflix show marked the OTT debut of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is also Sharmin Segal’s uncle. Apart from her acting in ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’, she was also criticised for her rude behaviour and comments towards her show’s co-stars during interviews. After breaking her silence on the criticism she received for her performance in the new Netflix series, Sharmin Segal recently addressed her comments about her co-stars Sanjeeda Shaikh and Aditi Rao Hydari.
In a new interview with Times Now, Sharmin Segal responded to her and Sanjeeda Shaikh’s viral clip and said that some of her interviews have been taken “out of context”.
When asked if she thinks that the “insider-outsider” narrative was created over her interviews with Aditi Rao Hydari and Sanjeeda Shaikh, Sharmin Segal said, “Again this is something I don't know. What I do know is that my interviews were being taken out of context and some of my co-stars have spoken graciously as to how these interviews were taken out of context.”
She added, “I share a very cordial equation with both Aditi and Sanjeeda. I wish that people would not use 10 second out of context clips to define the relationship I share with them.”

This comes days after Sharmin Segal called Aditi Rao Hydari a “school girl” for punctuality on sets. In a viral video on Instagram, Sharmin talked about Aditi when she said, “Aditi is a good school girl, please understand that. Teacher will say you have to submit your home work at this time and Aditi will do exactly that and not one more word than the word count limit. That is Aditi for you. So, according to her everyone is late and she is on time.”

During another interview, Sanjeeda Shaikh was asked what it was like to work with someone as acclaimed as Sanjay Leela Bhansali. To which she replied saying that the director is a “perfectionist”. When Sanjeeda Shaikh’s answer got over, Sharmin Segal immediately said that calling Bhansali a “perfectionist” isn’t right because he’s a lot more than that and only an “outsider”, who has never worked with him before, would label him this.
Moreover, Sharmin Segal was also trolled for allegedly comparing herself with legendary actress Meena Kumari.
To this, Sharmin Segal said, “I don’t know why people are leaving out the sentence that I said which was, ‘I tried to emulate the way Meena Kumari ji looks into nothingness’ and just extracting the word ‘nothingness’ from what I said.”
She added, “In no way was I calling Meena Kumariji or her performance in Paakeezah ‘nothingness’. That is not something I would ever do.”
Sharmin Segal played the character of Alamzeb, Mallikajaan's (Manisha Koirala) younger daughter in ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’.
Sharmin made her acting debut with ‘Malaal’ opposite Meezaan Jafri. Previously, she worked as an assistant director on the films ‘Mary Kom’, starring Priyanka Chopra, and ‘Bajirao Mastani’, featuring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka.
