“Dhajjiyan Uda Dunga”: Suniel Shetty Fumes Over Negative Press Against Son Ahan
Suniel Shetty broke his silence on the industry's smear campaign against Ahan, threatening to expose those behind the attacks over his son and his film ‘Border 2’.
Bollywood star Suniel Shetty has come out swinging in defense of his son and actor Ahan Shetty, taking a strong stand against what he claims is a malicious smear campaign being run against him in the film industry. The veteran actor didn’t mince words as he threatened to call out and publicly name those responsible for trying to damage Ahan Shetty’s reputation – especially over his decision to star in ‘Border 2’. In an explosive interview with Zoom Entertainment, Suniel Shetty revealed that certain individuals in the industry are unhappy with Ahan for choosing ‘Border 2’ over their films.
Their retaliation? Accusing the young actor of having an oversized entourage and planting negative stories in the press. According to Suniel Shetty, this campaign has even led to Ahan being dropped from projects.
He said, “I told him that this movie will keep him alive (in the minds of the audience) for decades to come, like the first Border has kept me alive. Ahan let go of a lot of opportunities because of this film; he missed out on a lot because of the ego of others. He was thrown out of those films, and he was blamed for it in the press. They said that he has a 10-person entourage; people paid lots of money to get negative articles written about him. Do you think I don’t have connections? Do you think I can’t do the same thing?”
Ahan, who made his debut with ‘Tadap’ in 2021, has now committed to ‘Border 2’ – a sequel to the iconic war film where Suniel had delivered one of his most memorable performances. The film is expected to hit screens in 2026 and also stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and more. For Ahan, this marks his second film after a five-year gap.
Suniel Shetty said he has told his son to treat ‘Border 2’ like it’s his last film. He said that the movie will probably be re-watched for years and years on important occasions such as Independence Day and Republic Day, and that it’s important for Ahan to put his best foot forward. He added that the choice to do ‘Border 2’ came from Ahan’s love for the country and the legacy of the original film.
Suniel Shetty further warned the industry to back off, “I still pay for my own food. I spend my own money to this day, not the producer’s. And that’s how Ahan has been raised. I’ve never spoken about this, but I’ll say this now. All this negativity was orchestrated because Ahan wanted to do Border 2, and people wanted their films to take off and not Border 2. If this continues, I will hold a press conference and expose each and every person’s name. Jiski dhajjiyan udani hain, uda dunga. That child’s obsession is Border.”
Meanwhile, the veteran actor will next be seen in ‘Kesari Veer’, set to release this Friday.
