Ameesha Patel is all set to mark her comeback to movies with the upcoming Bollywood film ‘Gadar 2’ co-starring Sunny Deol. Ameesha Patel, who made her acting debut with ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’, has been on a promotional spree ahead of the release of the new Hindi movie. However, she recently faced criticism on social media for her homophobic comments while speaking about the content shown on OTT. Now, social media sensation and actress Uorfi Javed, who is known for her bold outfits and unfiltered opinions, has criticised Ameesha Patel for the same.

Uorfi Javed, who is known to speak her mind, took to Instagram Stories and slammed Ameesha Patel, calling her a “very bitter person”.

Upset with Ameesha Patel’s remarks, Uorfi Javed said, “What is actually gayism, lesbianism? Keep your children away from it? So when she said ‘kaho na Pyar hai’ she meant only straight people. Public figures speaking without educating themselves on such sensitive topics really irks me! Not getting work for 25 years has made her into a very bitter person.”

In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Ameesha Patel hailed ‘Gadar 2’ for being a family-friendly film. She stated that films and web shows these days can’t be watched with family because OTT is “full of, homosexuality, gay-lesbianism.”

“People are waiting for good, clean cinema. The era where you could make cinema that a grandchild could sit and watch with a grandparent is completely missing. OTT for sure doesn’t give you that. Because OTT is full of, homosexuality, gay-lesbianism… Scenes that you have to cover your kids’ eyes or actually put a child lock on your television so they can’t access those platforms. It’s not something you really want your kids to watch," Ameesha Patel told Bollywood Hungama in the interview.

“Indians couldn’t travel that much, we didn’t have that much fashion. Everything that you wanted was through cinema… We didn’t even have an organised music industry. You depended on film music; costumes, fashion, everything came from cinema, and I think people are missing that essence. Gadar, they feel, is an answer to that,” she added.

Talking about ‘Gadar 2’, it is directed by Anil Sharma’s and will follow Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) and Sakeena’s (Ameesha Patel) eternal love story.

The upcoming film is a sequel to their 2001 blockbuster 'Gadar', which was helmed by Anil Sharma. 'Gadar' is a period-action drama set in 1947, around the partition of India and Pakistan.

'Gadar 2' is scheduled to release in theatres on August 11, 2023, clashing with Ranbir Kapoor-starrer ‘Animal’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG 2’. ‘Gadar 2’ will mark Ameesha Patel’s first role since 2018’s ‘Bhaiaji Superhit’.
