For a long time now, it is being rumoured that there would be a sequel to Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor-starrer 'Jab We Met'. However, in the latest entertainment news, director Imtiaz Ali Khan quashed all rumours, saying it is "not happening". The 'Love Aaj Kal' director also said that he does not have a story as of now to make a sequel to 'Jab We Met'.

"No, it’s not happening. I don’t have a story for Jab We Met 2 yet. I’ve heard of these and read these reports and articles. Nobody asked me before publishing them, so I don’t know what to say. But let’s see what happens," Imtiaz Ali told News18.

Earlier, a fan had also asked Shahid Kapoor about whether he is collaborating with Imtiaz Ali soon.

“I’ve noticed that you and Imtiaz Ali have been interacting a lot recently! Is there any project in the works," the user wrote on X.

Replying to the user, Shahid Kapoor said, "Smart Boy."

'Jab We Met' had released in 2007 and it is a romantic comedy film written and directed by Imtiaz Ali and produced by Dhilin Mehta under his banner Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision.

Apart from Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, the film also starred Tarun Arora, Saumya Tandon, and Dara Singh in supporting roles. Upon release, the film received positive reviews. Some film reviewers also termed it as one of the finest romantic films to come out of Bollywood in 2007.

Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor also won praise for their respective acting performances in the movie.

The film also won several awards, including the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer. The accolade was given to Shreya Ghoshal for the song 'Yeh Ishq Haaye', which remained a chartbuster for many months.
