The 'Bheed' trailer opens with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address to the nation, in which he had announced that a full lockdown would be enforced. As a result of this lockdown, many migrant workers were left stranded in cities.
In the ‘Bheed’ trailer, Rajkummar Rao's character says: "Justice is always in the hands of the powerful. If the powerless served justice, justice would be different."
Talking about 'Bheed', director Anubhav Sinha told Variety: "‘Bheed’ is a story of the most perilous times which changed everything for humanity. The key objective of shooting the film in black and white was to showcase how the visuals of the social disparity during India’s lockdown were strikingly similar to what people went through during the 1947 India partition."
"This story is about people whose lives changed in a snap and the colors from their lives were lost when the border was drawn within the country," he added.
The cast of 'Bheed' includes Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar, Pankaj Kapur, Ashutosh Rana, Dia Mirza, Virendra Saxena, Aditya Shrivastava, Kritika Kamra and Karan Pandit.
The new Hindi Bollywood movie is slated to release in the theatres on March 24.
