Actor and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar has penned an emotional post for Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo, saying it is "easy to tear someone down in a moment". The 'Dil Chahta Hai' director also criticised the pundits who have been slamming Cristiano Ronaldo off late for his on and off field behaviour. Ronaldo's Portugal failed to make it to the semi-finals of the recently-concluded FIFA World Cup in Qatar, after suffering a loss to Morocco in the quarterfinals.
"This is a @cristiano Ronaldo appreciation post. This guy has given his life to the game, set standards of skill, athleticism and fitness that most sportspeople can only fantasise about. It’s so easy to tear someone down in a moment when they stop behaving like robots and display human emotion. It’s so easy to forget how fortunate we’ve been to witness him take the beautiful game to a whole other level through sheer commitment, sacrifices, hard work and constant improvement through self-analysis," Farhan Akhtar wrote on Instagram.
"It annoys the hell out of me to see commentators diss him and speak of him as a has-been. Not one of them could last a day in his shoes. I don’t know the guy but I know that watching him play made me happy. Even when he played against teams I supported. I hope he knows what he means to the millions of people who feel the same way I do," he added.

In November this year, Cristiano Ronaldo had given a scathing interview to British journalist Piers Morgan, in which he criticised Manchester United and current manager Erik ten Hag.
This meant that Ronaldo’s fabled career at Manchester United to terminate Ronaldo's contract and the decorated striker is now without a club.
Talking about Farhan, the actor-filmmaker had made his Hollywood debut in 2022 as he starred in Marvel series 'Ms Marvel'.
He will next be directing the road-trip film 'Jee Le Zaraa', starring Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
