Karan Johar has rubbished rumours of ‘Dhadak 2’ being made.

‘Dhadak’, which released in 2018, marked the Bollywood debut of Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter. Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the Hindi film performed well at the box office and both the leads were praised for their performances. It was recently reported that ‘Dhadak 2’ is in the works with Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri approached to play the lead roles. If you were excited to see the fresh pairing of Siddhant and Tripti romancing each other, then we have a bad news for you!

Karan Johar took to his Instagram handle and shared a statement, refuting reports suggesting that Dharma Productions is making ‘Dhadak 2’.

KJo wrote on his Instagram Stories, “To put this on the record and for all concerned we (Dharma Productions) are NOT making a film with the title DHADAK 2 as is being reported in various articles."

On Tuesday, several reports claimed that Karan Johar will produce 'Dhadak 2' and bring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri together in the film.

Reports also suggested that ‘Dhadak 2’ will be helmed by debutant director Shazia Iqbal.

'Dhadak', featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter in the lead roles, revolved around Madhukar (Ishaan) and Parthavi (Janhvi), who fell head over heels in love with each other but their relationship was prohibited as they belonged to different castes.

‘Dhadak’ was the official remake of Nagraj Manjule's wildly popular Marathi film ‘Sairat’, which had released in 2016. It starred Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar in the lead roles.

Meanwhile, Karan Johar is currently gearing up for the release of his directorial 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani' starring Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi and Dharmendra.

The film, which was supposed to hit the big screens on April 28, will now be released on July 28, 2023.
