Suniel Shetty, Taapsee Pannu's "Priceless" Reaction To India's Epic U19 Women's T20 World Cup Win

The Shafali Verma-led Indian U19 side scripted history on Sunday as they defeated England in the summit clash to win the inaugural U19 Women's T20 World Cup.

India defeated England to win inaugural U19 Women's T20 World Cup on Sunday.

The Shafali Verma-led Indian U19 side scripted history on Sunday as they defeated England in the summit clash to win the inaugural U19 Women's T20 World Cup. In a completely one-sided clash, India thrashed England to bring the trophy home. Actress Taapsee Pannu who played the role of Mithali Raj in 'Shabaash Mithu' also congratulated the Indian team on this marvellous feat.

Taking to her Instagram story, she wrote: "The smiles on the faces of this (sic) young girls is priceless. Congratulations champions."

In another story, she said: "Let's remember this faces. We won our first World Cup in women's cricket today."

In another story, she wrote: "That's the first World Cup for the ladies...And I'm sure there are many more to come. We have just started!!!".

As the match was nearing its end, Taapsee had said: "We are about to create history. India are you watching? U19 Women's T20 World Cup 2023."

Actor Suniel Shetty also reacted to the win, and he tweeted: "Congratulations #TeamIndia #WomenInBlue What a day for Indian Women's Cricket. So proud. Congratulations @BCCI @BCCIWomen."

Actor Ajay Devgn tweeted: "What a clinical all-round performance to become the #U19T20WorldCup CHAMPIONS!! Congratulations girls on a historic win Truly a proud moment for India."

Actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar also shared Instagram stories to congratulate the Indian team on winning the U19 Women's T20 World Cup. 

In the U19 Women's T20 World Cup final, India won the toss and opted to bowl first. Titas Sadhu, Archana Devi, and Parshavi Chopra all took two wickets each as India bundled out England for 68 inside 18 overs.

Chasing 69 did not prove to be a problem for India as Soumya Tiwari and Gongadi Trisha played knocks of 24 each.

After the win, BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced a prize of Rs 5 crore for the entire team and support staff. He also invited the side to watch the third men's T20I between India and New Zealand in Ahmedabad. 

It is important to mention that the senior Women's T20 World Cup will also be played this year, and the tournament is slated to start in February.

The Women's Premier League will also hold its inaugural edition this year, and the BCCI had recently announced the owners of all five teams.
