2022 turned out to be a sort of a mixed bag for the Hindi film industry as there were few hits but several misses. A lot of movies opted for direct OTT releases and there were some that took us really by surprise. The biggest stars such as Deepika Padukone, Rajkumar Rao, Vidya Balan, and Anil Kapoor had movies that started streaming directly on various OTT platforms. As we have reached the last day of the year, we have come up with a list of the best OTT Hindi original movies.

Gehraiyaan
This domestic noir starred Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Dhairya Karwa, Rajat Kapoor, and Naseeruddin Shah and the plotline of the movie took everyone by surprise, specifically the twist in the middle of the second half. The movie was released on February 11 on Amazon Prime Video and movie received mixed reviews, but the praise for Deepika's performance was unanimous. Thar
This Netflix movie starred Anil Kapoor, Harshvardhan Kapoor, and Fatima Sana Shaikh in lead roles and the plot of the movie follows a man who moves to a village for some exploration work, but there is more to his motives. The movie hit the streaming platform on May 6, but the movie was praised all across for its performances.
Jalsa
This Suresh Trivenui-directorial starred Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah in lead roles. The movie premiered on Amazon Prime Video on March 18 and the flick received praise for the performances of both Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah. The movie revolves around the hit-and-run case of an 18-year-old girl and how it raises several questions.
Darlings
This dark-comedy starring Alia Bhatt, Vijay Varma, Shefali Shah, and Roshan Mathew released on Netflix in the month of August. The movie received widespread praise. The performances of all the lead actors were exceptional and the film received more than 10 million watching hours in its opening weekend, which is the highest for any non-English language original film worldwide. This was Jasmeet K Reen's first directorial and the movie was produced by Gauri Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Gaurav Verma under the banners of Red Chillies Entertainment and Eternal Sunshine Productions.
Monica, O My Darling
This Netflix original is a neo-noir crime comedy thriller film that has been directed by Vasan ala. The movie stars Rajkumar Rao, Huma Qureshi, Radhika Apte, and Sikander Kher in lead roles. The movie has been adapted from the 1989 Japanese novel 'Burutasu No Shinzou' by Keigo Higashino. The film's title has been taken from the 1971 film song 'Piya Tu Ab To Aja'. This is also one movie that was appreciated by everyone for its cinematography, humour, background score, and performances.
