Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone’s ‘Fighter’ Performing Worse Than Salman Khan’s ‘Tiger 3’
‘Fighter’ might be an aerial actioner, but we are sad to report that the new Hindi movie is on a freefall at the box office.
Siddharth Anand’s ‘Fighter’, starring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi, Sanjeeda Shaikh and Rishabh Sawhney, released in theatres almost a week back. It opened to favourable reviews from critics and audiences alike. However, we are sad to report that the new Hindi movie is not flying high at the box office. The Siddharth Anand directorial is witnessing a massive dip in its collection over the weekdays. And it is looking likely that director Siddharth Anand won't be able to deliver a hat-trick of blockbusters, as ‘Fighter’ is struggling to rake in the big numbers.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Fighter’ minted Rs 7.75 crore on Tuesday, which was the sixth day of its release. For the unversed, the new Hindi movie had nosedived on its first Monday, earning just Rs 8 crore.
The total nett collection of ‘Fighter’ now stands at Rs 134.25 crore, and globally, the film has gone past the Rs 220 crore mark. ‘Fighter’ has fallen woefully short of trade expectations, which had positioned the film as the first blockbuster of 2024.
For the unversed, Siddharth Anand's ‘War’ with Hrithik Roshan had minted Rs 318 crore all-India nett and Rs 471 crore worldwide. The director’s 2023 release ‘Pathaan’, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, collected Rs 545 crore in India.
It is safe to say that 'Fighter' won't be able to match these numbers and in fact, the film won't be able to come near Salman Khan's 'Tiger 3' as well as the actioner had minted more than Rs 280 crore at the domestic box office.
'Fighter' is the second consecutive film for Hrithik Roshan which has had an underwhelming performance at the box office, despite a positive word of mouth. His last release 'Vikram Vedha' tanked at the box office, after earning just Rs 78.66 crore in India.
‘Fighter’, presented by Viacom18 Studios in association with Marflix Pictures, is the third collaboration between Hrithik Roshan and Siddharth Anand after ‘Bang Bang’ and ‘War’. The new Hindi movie is also the third collaboration between Deepika Padukone and Siddharth Anand after ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ and ‘Pathaan’.
Earlier, Siddharth Anand admitted that the success of ‘Pathaan’, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, has set the bar too high for him and he is indeed feeling the “pressure of the expectations” from his audience.
For the unversed, 'Fighter' opened to a collection of Rs 24.60 crore, and on Republic Day, the film made more than Rs 40 crore. 'Fighter' is Hrithik Roshan's seventh movie to enter the Rs 100 crore club in India.
