'Gadar 2' Surpasses 'Pathaan' To Become Highest-Grossing Hindi Film In India, But How Long Will The Record Last?
'Gadar 2', starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, has broken ‘Pathaan’s’ record to become the highest-grossing Hindi film in India.
'Gadar 2' starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel in leading roles, has finally managed to do the unthinkable! The Anil Sharma-directoral which released in theatres on August 11, has been slowly and steadily earning money off late despite competition from new releases, and finally, the new Hindi movie has managed to go past Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan'. 'Gadar 2' has become the highest-grossing film in Hindi in India.
The total collection of 'Gadar 2' now stands at Rs 524.75 crore and it has beat the lifetime collection of 'Pathaan' which was Rs 524.23 crore. However, it needs to be seen for how long 'Gadar 2' manages to stay at the top.
Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan' is showing no signs of slowing down, and till now, the movie's collection stands at Rs 519.69 crore in Hindi, and in likelihood, SRK will once again reclaim the top spot by the end of this week. Apart from SRK, the Atlee-directorial also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover and Priyamani.
Since its release, ‘Gadar 2’ collected Rs 284.63 crore in the first week, Rs 134.47 crore in week two and Rs 63.35 crore in the third week. In its fourth week, 'Gadar 2' collected Rs 27.55 crore while in the fifth week, it made Rs 7.28 crore.
In the sixth week, 'Gadar 2' collected Rs 2.75 crore, while in the ongoing seventh week, the Anil Sharma-directorial has so far made Rs 2.75 crore.

‘Gadar 2’ is written by Shaktimaan Talwar. The movie also stars Utkarsh Sharma, Rakesh Bedi, Simrat Kaur and Manish Wadhwa among others. Set in the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war, the film follows the story of Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) as he goes to Pakistan to save his son (Utkarsh Sharma) from captivity.
Besides Sunny Deol, Utkarsh Sharma and Ameesha Patel, ‘Gadar 2’ also stars Manish Wadhwa, Gaurav Chopra, Simrat Kaur, Luv Sinha, Rakesh Bedi and Dolly Bindra.
The film is a sequel to the 2001 blockbuster ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’, which was also directed by Anil Sharma. ‘Gadar’ was a massive hit in 2001, when it clashed against the critically acclaimed ‘Lagaan’, which starred Aamir Khan.
Sunny Deol recently hosted a star-studded success bash in Mumbai. It was attended by the who's who of Bollywood, including Kajol, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani, Kartik Aaryan and Varun Dhawan.
