Prabhas, Deepika Padukone And Amitabh Bachchan's 'Kalki 2898 AD' Poised To Go Past Rs 500 Crore Worldwide In Opening Weekend
'Kalki 2898 AD', starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, continues to wreak havoc at the box office.
After minting more than Rs 90 crore across all languages on the opening day of its release, 'Kalki 2898 AD', starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani, had yet another respectable outing at the box office on Friday. On the second day of its release, the Nag Ashwin directorial collected more than Rs 50 crore, across all languages, and the film is now expected to go past the Rs 200 crore today.
As per early estimates posted by industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Kalki 2898 AD' minted Rs 54 crore, across all languages on Friday. As a result, the total two-day nett domestic collection now stands at Rs 149.3 crore
Out of this Rs 54 crore, Rs 22.50 crore came from the Hindi version while the Telugu version contributed Rs 25.65 crore. The Tamil and Malayalam versions contributed Rs 3.5 crore and Rs 2 crore, respectively. The Kannada version also contributed only Rs 0.35 crore, as per Sacnilk.
On Friday, 'Kalki 2898 AD' dropped by over 43 per cent and the major dip came in the Telugu version. While the film earned Rs 65.8 crore in Telugu on the opening day, it was able to mint just Rs 25.65 crore on the second day of its release.
On the opening day of its release, 'Kalki 2898 AD' registered a gross worldwide box office collection of Rs 191.5 crore, as per the makers. Now, it needs to be seen whether the film manages to go past the Rs 500 crore mark in the extended opening weekend.
For the unversed, Nag Ashwin's sci-fi epic 'Kalki 2898 AD' is a mix of Hindu mythology set in a dystopian world where some people have made it their mission to save the unborn child of Deepika Padukone’s character. The unborn child is believed to be Kalki, the avatar of Lord Vishnu.
The new pan-India film also features cameos by Vijay Deverakonda, Mrunal Thakur, Dulquer Salmaan, SS Rajamouli and Ram Gopal Varma.
Despite 'Kalki 2898 AD' release in cinemas, Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Chandu Champion’ and Sharvari Wagh, Abhay Verma and Mona Singh’s ‘Munjya’, continue to make steady progress at the box office.
As per Sacnilk, Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Chandu Champion’ minted Rs 0.80 crore on Friday, the 15th day of its release. The nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 56.30 crore.
On the other hand, ‘Munjya’ collected Rs 0.85 crore on Friday, the 22nd day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of ‘Munjya’ now stands at Rs 91.75 crore.
Lastly, Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa's new Punjabi film 'Jatt & Juliet 3', which was released in cinemas on Thursday, minted Rs 3.60 crore on Friday, the second day of its release. As per Sacnilk, the total two-day nett domestic collection now stands at Rs 7.10 crore.
