Latest Bollywood Box Office Report: Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s new Hindi movie, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, inched closer to the Rs 50 crore mark in just three days since its release.
Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s second collaboration together, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, is already proving to be a box office winner. The Bollywood stars, who previously featured in Zoya Akhtar’s 2019 hit film ‘Gully Boy’, reunited for the new Hindi movie. Directed by Karan Johar, the Bollywood film received favourable reviews from critics and recorded a good opening weekend. The new Hindi movie, which released in theatres on July 28, minted Rs 45.90 crore during its first weekend despite tough competition from Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ and Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’.
Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box office collection of ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ on Twitter.

In the latest Bollywood box office news, according to Taran Adarsh, the new Hindi movie collected Rs 11.10 crore on Friday. The family entertainer recorded a significant jump in its box office collection on Saturday and Sunday, minting Rs 16.05 crore and Rs 18.75 crore, respectively.
With this, ‘RRKPK’ has recorded the fourth highest weekend collections of 2023 after Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’, Salman Khan’s ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ and Prabhas’s magnum opus ‘Adipurush’.
It is likely to cross other family romantic comedy dramas of 2023 including Vicky Kaushal-Sara Ali Khan’s ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke’ (Rs 87 crore) and Kartik Aaryan-Kiara Advani’s ‘SatyaPrem Ki Katha’ (Rs 83 crore).
It remains to be seen whether ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ will be able to beat the highest grossing film of the year in the same genre – Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor’s ‘Tu Jhooti Main Makkar’, which had minted Rs 149 crore.
It also remains to be seen how it will perform after the release of Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG 2’ on August 11.
Besides Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ also stars Shabana Azmi, Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra, Tota Roy Choudhury and Churni Ganguly.
It is a full-blown family entertainer. Rocky (played by Ranveer Singh) and Rani (played by Alia Bhatt), end up switching their homes in the movie to know if they are compatible with each other’s families.
Penned by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan and Sumit Roy, the new Hindi movie also features cameos from Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Ananya Panday.
'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' is Karan Johar's first big-screen directorial since 2016's ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. In the interim period, he had helmed two short films for the Netflix anthologies 'Lust Stories' and 'Ghost Stories'.
