‘Jawan’ has had a glorious run at the box-office, both domestically and globally. Shah Rukh Khan’s new Hindi movie just completed its sixth weekend but still is managing to rake in the moolah. This weekend it made Rs 9 crore Friday, thanks largely to the discounted ticket prices on National Cinema Day on Friday. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, on its 40th day of release, ‘Jawan’ made Rs 40 lakh. As per the latest figures put out by Red Chillies Entertainment, ‘Jawan’ has now made Rs 1,132.13 crore in global gross box office collection.

This has taken SRK’s new Hindi movie to rarified, making it the fifth-biggest Indian film of all time.

Over the past weeks, ‘Jawan’ has slowly but surely inched closer to the fourth-most successful Indian film, KGF: Chapter 2, whose lifetime global gross stands around Rs 1,215 crore.

And cross that hurdle, and another South Indian film awaits – RRR, with global gross lifetime earnings of Rs 1,230 crore.

Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Jawan’ has made Rs 634.43 nett at the domestic office, earning a whopping Rs 574.25 crore in Hindi language, and another Rs 60.18 crore in other languages (Tamil and Telugu).

Before setting sights on KGF: Chapter 2, ‘Jawan’ will be eyeing another sensational record. The Atlee-directorial can become the first Hindi movie to make Rs 600 crore and above.

For that to happen ‘Jawan’ requires around Rs 24 crore more. That seems unlikely to happen with box office collection set to dip further in coming weeks.

Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Leo’ is releasing this Thursday, and the movie’s release could affect ‘Jawan’. It all depends on how ‘Leo’ is received in the Hindi belt.
