'The Greatest Of All Time' has become the biggest Tamil opener of 2024.

Thalapathy Vijay-starrer 'The Greatest Of All Time', aka 'GOAT', released in cinemas on Thursday, September 5, and as expected, the new film has become the biggest Tamil opener of 2024. In the latest entertainment news, 'The Greatest Of All Time', saw an impressive occupancy in theatres in Chennai. 'GOAT' has now even surpassed the opening day numbers of Shankar and Kamal Haasan's 'Indian 2', which stood at Rs 25.60 crore. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'The Greatest Of All Time' earned Rs 43 crore on the opening day of its release. However, the film has failed to overtake the opening day numbers of Vijay's previous film 'Leo', directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj

Speaking about 'GOAT', the film saw an overall 76.23 per cent occupancy for the Tamil version. In Chennai, 'GOAT had 1003 shows, and witnessed a phenomenal 99 per cent occupancy.

For the unversed, 'GOAT' is believed to be Vijay's penultimate film as the star has previously hinted that he will move to politics after finishing his next film, 'Thalapathy 69', which is being made by director H Vinoth.

It needs to be seen whether 'GOAT' manages to match the collection of Vijay's previous releases 'Leo' and 'Varisu'.

Vijay had two releases in 2023 -- 'Leo' and 'Varisu'. 'Leo' emerged as one of the highest grossers of 2023 but 'Varisu' did not have the same luck.

For the uninitiated, 'GOAT' is Vijay's first film after his announcement of entering politics.

'GOAT' is also one of the costliest films made this year with a reported budget of around Rs 400 crore.

The film also features Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Mohan, Ajmal Ameer, Jayaram, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Vaibhav, Yogi Babu, Premgi Amaren, and Yugendran in important roles.
