Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘GOAT’ has become the highest grossing Tamil film of 2024.
Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay has proved that he is indeed the greatest of all time. Vijay’s ‘The Greatest Of All Time’, which released in cinemas on September 5, opened to mixed reviews. However, it has managed to weather the mixed reviews to become the highest grossing Tamil film of 2024. As per early estimates posted by industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘GOAT’ minted Rs 34.2 crore on Sunday, the fourth day of its release. As a result, the total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 137.25 crore.
As per Deadline, worldwide gross of the new Tamil movie currently stands at an estimated Rs 285 crore, and 'GOAT' will soon enter the Rs 300 crore club.
'GOAT' opened with a box office collection of Rs 44 crore in India, and the film followed it up with a collection of Rs 25.5 crore, Rs 33.5 crore and Rs 34.2 crore on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
The Tamil version has so far collected Rs 121.05 crore, while the Hindi and Telugu versions have earned Rs 8.3 crore and Rs 7.85 crore, respectively.
For the unversed, 'GOAT' is believed to be Vijay's penultimate film as the star has previously hinted that he will move to politics after finishing his next film, 'Thalapathy 69', which is being made by director H Vinoth.
It remains to be seen whether 'GOAT' manages to match the collection of Vijay's previous releases 'Leo' and 'Varisu'.
For the unversed, 'GOAT' is Vijay's first film after his announcement of entering politics. 'GOAT' is also one of the costliest films made this year with a reported budget of around Rs 400 crore.
The film also features Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Mohan, Ajmal Ameer, Jayaram, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Vaibhav, Yogi Babu, Premgi Amaren, and Yugendran in important roles.
