Kareena Kapoor’s ‘The Buckingham Murders’ Sees Marginal Growth Over Weekend
Kareena Kapoor Khan’s ‘The Buckingham Murders’ witnessed marginal growth over the weekend.
Kareena Kapoor Khan, who delivered a hit in the form of the 2024 Hindi movie ‘Crew’, recently came out with ‘The Buckingham Murders’. The new Hindi movie, directed by Hansal Mehta, received decent reviews. However, it failed to attract viewers to the theatres. After a poor start at the box office on Friday, the movie witnessed a marginal growth in its performance at the ticket counters over its first weekend. For the unversed, ‘The Buckingham Murders’ made Rs 1.15 crore on Friday. Gaining momentum on Saturday, the film earned Rs 1.95 crore.
‘The Buckingham Murders’ then recorded a further upward trend on Sunday, with a collection of Rs 2.20 crore. The nett domestic collection of the new Hindi movie now stands at Rs 5.30 crore.
For the unversed, ‘The Buckingham Murders’ is currently playing in just 1,334 screens across the country. On Sunday, the film had an overall 18.80 per cent occupancy rate for Hindi shows.
Kareena Kapoor has been actively sharing behind-the-scenes moments from the film, expressing her pride in her performance and her role as a producer.
Recently, taking to Instagram, Kareena wrote, “As an actor, it’s the choices one makes… And I am very proud of this choice. Please watch this story and dive into my world of crime and drama… a dream I have always had to act in or produce one… but here I got the best of both worlds. Meanwhile, Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana and Pankaj Tripathi-starrer ‘Stree 2’, which was released on Independence Day 2024, earned Rs 7 crore on Sunday, the 32nd day of its release.
The nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 555.10 crore in India. The Amar Kaushik directorial has already become the second highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, and it remains to be seen whether it manages to break the record of Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan' to become the highest-grossing Hindi film in India.
‘The Buckingham Murders’ had its world premiere at the 67th BFI London Film Festival on October 14, 2023. The movie follows the story of a British-Indian detective, who is coping with a personal tragedy while investigating the murder of a child in Buckinghamshire.
The movie also stars Ranveer Brar, Rukku Nahar, Ash Tandon, and Keith Allen in key roles.
