‘Chhaava’, starring Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna in the lead roles, is all set to register a good opening at the box office. The film, which is backed by Maddock Films, is scheduled to release in theatres on Friday, February 14. As per trade website Sacnilk, ‘Chhaava’ has so far sold more than 3,00,000 tickets for the opening day. If the current trend is anything to go by, the new Hindi movie is likely to record the best opening for any Hindi project in 2025.

As per Sacnilk, ‘Chhaava’ has so far sold 3,06,986 tickets for Day 1, grossing Rs 8.68 crore. If one also adds block seats into the mix, then the amount rises up to Rs 10.99 crore.

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sky Force’ is the biggest Hindi opener of 2025 as it minted Rs 12.25 crore on the opening day of its release. Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Deva’ opened with Rs 5.50 crore on Day 1, while Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’ collected Rs 2.50 crore.

‘Chhaava’ is performing exceptionally well in Maharashtra in advance ticket sales. The film has earned more than Rs 5 crore in Maharashtra itself.

Speaking of the film, it has been directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films. The film is a historical biopic based on the life of Maratha king Sambhaji, played by Vicky Kaushal.

The film will see Rashmika Mandanna essay the role of Maharani Yesubai. Akshaye Khanna will feature as Aurangzeb, Ashutosh Rana as Sarsenapati Hambirao Mohite, and Divya Dutta as Soyarabai.

‘Chhaava’ is an adaptation of the Marathi novel ‘Chhava’ by Shivaji Sawant. The film’s score and soundtrack album have been composed by AR Rahman, with lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil.

“There were days when I had no time to even relax. With 12-hour shoot schedules, two hours of training before and two hours of action rehearsals after, I barely had time to sleep,” Vicky Kaushal had earlier said while speaking about his transformation for the film.

“Katrina knows how it is in the industry, and she was so kind and patient with me,” he added.
