Sidharth Malhotra's 'Yodha' Off To Slow Start, Opening Day Collection Lower Than 'TBMAUJ' And 'Article 370'

'Yodha' starring Sidharth Malhotra, Raashii Khanna, and Disha Patani, has taken a slow start at the box office. The movie has received mixed word of mouth, and this has resulted in the Day 1 collection. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, 'Yodha' earned Rs 4.25 crore on the opening day of its release. On Friday, the Sidharth Malhotra-starrer had an overall 13.86 per cent Hindi occupancy, as per industry tracker Sacnilk.

For the unversed, Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon's 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya' had minted Rs 7.02 crore on Day 1 while 'Article 370' minted Rs 6.12 crore on the opening day of its release. Ajay Devgn's 'Shaitaan' minted Rs 15.21 crore on the opening day, while 'Fighter' recorded the biggest opening for any Hindi film in 2024 after making Rs 24.60 crore. 

Speaking of Sidharth Malhotra, the actor has not had a box-office hit since 2016's 'Kapoor & Sons'. The film made Rs 73.29 crore in India, and it also starred Fawad Khan, Alia Bhatt, Rishi Kapoor, Ratna Pathak, and Rajat Kapoor.

Sidharth Malhotra's latest acclaimed project came in 2021 with 'Shershaah', which was released on Prime Video. Before 'Yodha', Sidharth's last theatrical release was 2022's 'Thank God', which made only Rs 34.89 crore. 

Now, it needs to be seen whether 'Yodha' manages to pick up pace over the weekend. For the unversed, the film which is backed by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, has been directed by Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha. 

'Yodha' has been produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, and Shashank Khaitan. Sagar Ambre has scripted the film apart from co-directing it. 

Speaking of Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan, and Jyotika-starrer 'Shaitaan', which released in cinemas on March 8, minted Rs 5.12 crore on Friday, which was the eighth day of its release. As per Taran Adarsh, the total nett collection of the Vikas Bahl directorial now stands at Rs 86.72 crore, and the film is expected to go past the Rs 100 crore mark on Sunday. 

For the unversed, Adah Sharma-starrer 'Bastar: The Naxal Story', which released on Friday, alongside 'Yodha', minted Rs 0.50 crore on the opening day of its release, as per Sacnilk.

'Kung Fu Panda 4' also performed decently well on the opening day in India. As per Sacnilk, the film earned around Rs 2 crore on Friday.
