The Met Gala, one of the most anticipated events in the fashion industry, took place on May 6, 2024, at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. And the event was an extravaganza of glitz and glamour as celebrities flaunted their fashion A-game in daring and stunning outfits. This year's theme is ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’, while the dress code is ‘The Garden of Time’. The theme encouraged celebrities to push the boundaries of fashion and showcase their best looks.
From Alia Bhatt to Zendaya and Gigi Hadid, several celebrities from the fashion and entertainment industry attended the uber-popular fashion event. While several celebrities left us swooning with their stunning looks, we decided to take a look at the some of the best looks from Met Gala 2024.
Without further ado, check out some of the best Met Gala 2024 looks here:
1. Alia Bhatt: Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt, who represented her Indian heritage at the event, ate and left no crumbs in her Sabyasachi saree! Alia Bhatt wore a pastel mint green-coloured saree that featured a massive embroidered train. It came hand-embroidered with silk floss, glass beading, and gemstones. Additionally, the beaded tassels in the borders and a ruffled pleat on the front added to the dreamy touch of her outfit. She wore the pastel Sabyasachi saree with a bustier blouse featuring a plunging sweetheart neckline, ruffled sleeves, intricate embroidery, gemstone embellishments, and a tulle bow detail on the back. She further tied her hair into a messy updo with loose strands framing her face. She accessorised her look with a maang tikka, statement earrings and rings and went for a soft glam makeup look.
2. Zendaya: The American actress, as the co-chair for this year’s Met Gala, made a stunning and dramatic appearance on the iconic steps of The Metropolitan Museum Of Art. She returned to the event after several years and it is safe to say that the wait was worth it! The ‘Challengers’ actress showed up at the event in a dramatic jewel-embellished gown. Her ensemble is an incredible reinterpretation of a 1999 Dior dress by Maison Margiela Artisanal by John Galliano. The one-shoulder gown featured royal blue and emerald green-coloured diagonal stripes, fruit and bird-shaped embellishments on the waist, neck and arms, a sweetheart neckline, ruffled structure on the back, a figure-sculpting silhouette, and cinched waistline. She wore the gown with a net mesh and tulle-feathered hair accessory, dainty emerald earrings and a matching statement ring.
She showed off yet another stunning avatar, an archival Givenchy look, that truly took us back in time with its vintage glamour. Zendaya wore a floor-length black leather gown with a giant floral headpiece.
3. Gigi Hadid: This one has to be one of our favourite looks of the night! It’s everything a Met Gala look should be: on theme, fashion-forward, and striking on the red carpet. The supermodel embraced the retro aesthetic to honour the Met Gala’s theme. Gigi Hadid wore a white off-the-shoulder Thom Browne gown with a tiered skirt decorated with yellow flowers. Her gown featured a plunging neckline, a corseted bodice with ribbon ties cinched on the back, and a floor-sweeping train. She accessorised the ensemble with a choker, dangling earrings, and rings. Lastly, Gigi Hadid chose a side-parted bob, bright red lips, blushed cheeks, and well-shaped eyebrows.
4. Jennifer Lopez: This look is J.Lo at her best: smoking hot, glamorous, and covered in rhinestones. She looks more fashion-forward this time, thanks to the structured look of the dress and soft glam. Jennifer Lopez left little to imagination in a Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown, adorned with sparkling crystals. The floor-sweeping gown hugged her at the right places and accentuated her enviable figure. Paired with sky-high platform heels and jewels from Tiffany & Co, Jennifer Lopez stunned like no one else at the fashion event.
5. Greta Lee: The ‘Past Lives’ actress has to be our favourite fashion risk-taker and she slayed again. This time, Greta Lee turned heads in a sheer white floral-embellished dress by Loewe. For hair, Greta Lee wore a shoulder-length wig.
For her makeup, she went with well-shaped eyebrows, subtle eyeshadow, rosy blushed cheekbones, subtle contouring, beaming highlighter and nude pink lips.
