The makers of Pankaj Tripathi-starrer 'Main Atal Hoon' have finally released the trailer of the upcoming Hindi film, which is a biopic of former India Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Going by the trailer, it looks like that the film will be telling the story of Vajpayee’s political career from his early days, even when the text suggests that this is the story of the "leader you know but the man you didn't."

The trailer touches upon various chapters of Indian history starting from the Emergency to the Kargil war. Incidents like  Ram Janmbhoomi, Pokhran, Lahore Bus Yatra are also shown in the trailer.

Pankaj Tripathi has completely nailed the mannerisms of the former India Prime Minister, and his performance looks as one for the ages.

Talking about the film, Pankaj Tripathi said in a statement, “More than the film, the journey of playing Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee is really close to my heart. The man is truly a legend, and we are honoured to bring his inspiring story to the world. I hope audiences appreciate our efforts to bring the legacy of Atal ji onto the big screens.”

For the unversed, the film has been directed by Ravi Jadhav, who has previously helmed National Award-winning Marathi films 'Natarang', 'Balgandharva' and 'Balak Palak'.

He had recently also directed Sushmita Sen-starrer JioCinema series 'Taali'.

'Main Atal Hoon' is slated to release in theatres on January 19, 2024.

In an earlier interview, Pankaj had said that when he shot for 'Main Atal Hoon', he only ate khichdi for 6o days.

“In Atal, I shot for around 60 days and for those 60 days, I only ate khichdi, that too the one cooked by me.” He added, “You never know how will others make it. I put no oil or masalas in it. I just use simple dal, chawal and local vegetables, which are available," Pankaj told Film Companion.
