In a recent interview, the Bhojpuri actress also directly commented on the ‘Besharam Rang’ controversy.
“Our society keeps trying to control an artist. They ban everything. They say that don't do this, don't do that.. If Deepika wore bikini, then what is the problem in it,” Rajasthan Patrika quoted Yamini Singh as saying.
Yamini Singh also said that if she is featuring in an item song, she won’t dance in a “burkha”. She further said that a song’s costumes are based on what the theme of the track is.
For the unversed, ‘Pathaan’, also featuring John Abraham, has been battling controversy after the release of its first song ‘Besharam Rang’.
A sequence in the dance number showed Deepika Padukone in a saffron bikini, which led to protests and outrage across India for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
Recently, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had also directed the makers of the film to implement "changes" in the movie, including its songs, in accordance with board guidelines.
Helmed by Siddharth Anand, ‘Pathaan’ will release on January 25 and the trailer will reportedly be out on January 10.
