Mohanlal shared his excitement on receiving an “unforgettable gift” from Argentine football icon Lionel Messi.
Malayalam superstar Mohanlal had a fan boy moment of a lifetime when he received a personalised gift from none other than football legend Lionel Messi. Taking to social media, the actor shared a heartfelt video revealing that Lionel Messi had signed a jersey for him. In the video, Lionel Messi can be seen signing the jersey and mentioning Mohanlal’s name. Mohanlal, visibly touched, then held up the prized possession and reflected on the emotional moment, saying that his heart “skipped a beat”.
In the caption, he wrote, “Some moments in life feel too profound for words. They stay with you forever. Today, I experienced one of those moments. As I gently unwrapped the gift, my heart skipped a beat—a jersey signed by the legend himself, Lionel Messi. And there it was… my name, written in his own hand.”

Expressing his admiration for Lionel Messi, Mohanlal added that he’s always respected the footballer not just for his skills but also for his humility and grace. He credited two close friends – Dr. Rajeev Mangottil and Rajesh Philip – for making the incredible moment happen.

This incredible moment wouldn’t have been possible without the kindness of two dear friends: Dr. Rajeev Mangottil and Rajesh Philip. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
