For the unversed, AV Raju was recently expelled from his political party after he made allegations that Trisha was brought to a resort on the insistence of an MLA for a particular amount of money, reported Hindustan Times.
As soon as the statement went viral, several people took to social media, asking for the man to be put behind bars.
Director Cheran wrote, "I strongly condemn. The law and the police should take appropriate action against this person who has defamed the film industry in public without any evidence. I hope the actors union will take appropriate action and response."
The Film Employees Federation of South India also condemned the comments made by Raju.
“In politics, there might be several reasons for one party to accuse another but in that process don’t make baseless accusation and derogatory remarks about women of the film industry," their statement read.
“From Panchayat presidents to MPs to Indian President Droupadi Murmu, when women in India are in power everywhere, such kind of attacks on women and their virtues should be punished with iron-clad rules by the state and central government," the statement added.
This is not the first time that Trisha has been in the news for the wrong reasons. Earlier, the actress had lashed out at 'Leo' actor Mansoor Ali Khan for his derogatory remarks about not being able to act with her in the film, which had Vijay as the lead.
