Tamil star Vijay has joined the list of celebrities to speak about the Chennai floods, caused by Cyclone Michaung.

Tamil star Vijay has joined the list of celebrities to speak about the Chennai floods, caused by Cyclone Michaung. The 'Leo' actor said that people are still suffering without basic facilities and he also directed his Vijay Makkal Iyakkam members to work with the government to help people. Vijay posted his statement on Instagram.

Taking to Instagram, Vijay wrote, "In Chennai and its suburbs, due to Cyclone Michaung, from children to elders, many are severely affected. Reports suggest thousands are suffering without drinking water, food, and other basic facilities. Many voices on social media continue to request help to retrieve people stuck in the flood. In such a situation, I request members of the organisation (Vijay Makkal Iyakkam) to work with the government selflessly to help people.”

Over the past few months, it has been severly speculated that Vijay is gearing up to enter politics.

For the unversed, many Tamil actors have come forward to help those affected by the floods. Actor Harish Kalyan of 'Pyaar Prema Kaadhal' had donated Rs 1 lakh to the Chennai corporation for relief activities. 

Actors Aditi Balan and Vinodhini Vaidhyanathan had earlier lashed out at the Tamil Nadu government for failing to implement proper infrastructure to handle the flood situation in Chennai.

For the unversed, cyclonic storm Michaung began its landfall process between Nellore and Kavali in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday. 

On the work front, Vijay, who is fondly referred to as Thalapathy, was last seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj's 'Leo'. 

The movie also stars Trisha Krishnan and Mansoor Ali Khan.
