Vijay-starrer 'Leo' is on its way to create history!

Vijay, who is fondly referred to as Thalapathy by his fans, will be returning to the silver screen with Lokesh Kangaraj's 'Leo'. The new Tamil movie will be releasing in theatres on Thursday, October 19, and the movie is poised to make a fantastic start at the Indian box office. In the latest entertainment news, as per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Leo' has managed to do the unthinkable as it has beaten Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan' to register the highest number of advance domestic ticket sales by an Indian movie in 2023 for the opening day.

As per Sacnilk, 'Leo' has till now sold approximately 17,54,235 tickets across India, and even before its release, the new Tamil movie has recorded a gross collection of Rs 34.25 crore.

For the unversed, Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan', which was directed by Atlee, had sold 15.75 lakh tickets in advance for the opening day, across India.

However, 'Leo' is still behind 'Jawan' when it comes to advance gross collection, reported Sacnilk.

'Jawan', which also starred Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, had scored approximately Rs 41 crore advance booking for the opening day.

It needs to be noted that the approx ticket price for 'Jawan' across India was Rs 251 while for 'Leo', it is Rs 202, as per industry tracker Sacnilk.

The advance booking for 'Leo' is led by the Tamil version, which has sold 14.27 lakh tickets so far, while the Telugu version has sold a little more than 2 lakh tickets.

The response to the Hindi version has also turned out to be good, despite the movie having a very limited release in the language. For the unversed, the Hindi version of 'Leo' won't be releasing in national multiplex chains (PVR, INOX and Cinepolis).

Arjun and Sanjay Dutt are playing the role of main antagonists in 'Leo'. It is not known whether 'Leo' is based on David Cronenberg’s 'A History of Violence' which had released in 2005.

'Leo's cast also includes Gautham Menon, Trisha, Priya Anand, and Mansoor Ali Khan. Anirudh Ravichander of 'Jawan', and 'Jailer' fame, has composed the music for the film.

For the unversed, 'Leo' is the second collaboration between Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj after 'Master', which had released in 2021.
