Rohit Sharma-led Team India started their Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign with a bang as the hosts defeated Australia by six wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday. India chased down the target of 200 inside 42 overs, after KL Rahul and Virat Kohli played knocks of 97 and 85, respectively. In the latest entertainment news, KL Rahul's wife and actress Athiya Shetty had the best possible reaction to her husband's sterling knock.

Taking to her Instagram Story, Athiya Shetty re-shared the video of KL Rahul's match-winning six against Australia. "Best guy ever," she wrote.

KL Rahul was left disappointed after hitting the six, as he was unable to complete his century. If the ball had gone for a four, KL Rahul would have had a chance to complete a much-deserved ton, had he hit a six.

Speaking after the match, KL Rahul said, "I hit it too well, I just calculated how to get to a 100 in the end. The only way was a four and a six, but no qualms on not getting to that hundred."

Talking about the match against Australia, things were not that easy for India as the hosts lost three wickets inside 2 overs. Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, and Shreyas Iyer all departed for ducks.

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul then put on 165 runs for the fourth wicket, but the former was unable to stay at the crease till the end as he lost his wicket to Josh Hazlewood in the 38th over.

Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja had taken three wickets to help India bundle out Australia for 199.

India will next square off against Afghanistan in New Delhi on Wednesday.
