'House of the Dragon' Season 2 has kicked off with a bang! We are in for one hell of a ride this season. The first episode titled 'A Son for a Son' was released on Monday morning in India, and the 56-minute-long episode is currently streaming on JioCinema. Before getting into the episode details, we would like to tell you that this would be a spoiler-filled article. If you want to watch the episode later without knowing some key details then refrain from reading further. We would advise you to first watch the episode, and then come back here, if you wish to. Now, since we are done with the disclaimer, let's dive right into it.

Before getting into the finer details of the episode, let's recap the Season 1 finale of the 'Game of Thrones' prequel. The first season concluded with the shocking death of Rhaenyra Targaryen’s (Emma D’Arcy) son Lucerys Velaryon.

The second episode kicks off with several characters making some bad choices due to ongoing grief, and this eventually leads to a gory murder of another child -- Jaehaerys Targaryen, the grandson of Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke).

The child Jaehaerys who is a son of King Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney) and Queen Helaena (Phia Saban), is eventually killed in his bed by two men nicknamed -- Blood and Cheese. While one is a former member of the City Watch, the other is the royal rat catcher.

The duo manages to sneak into the palace under commission from Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) to find and kill Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell). He gives this command to get the revenge Rhaenyra wants for Aemond’s role in Luke’s death.

Jaehaerys is eventually killed instead when Blood and Cheese cannot find Aemond. The duo stumbles across Queen Helaena and her two sleeping twins — a boy and a girl. It is then that they demand to know which one is a boy, as they believe that this will eventually satisfy the "son for a son" portion of the death, as requested by Daemon.

After getting scared, Helaena points to her son, and then runs with her daughter, Jaehaera, to the safety of her mother Alicent’s room. When she reaches there, she finds Alicent sleeping with Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel).

Helaena then tells Alicent, that the boy has been killed, much to the shock of the latter.

'House of the Dragon' Season 2 Episode 2 will be streaming on JioCinema, next Monday (June 24, 2024).
