Hrithik Roshan, whose latest film 'Fighter' is running in theatres, spoke candidly about his acting choices and stardom.

'Fighter', starring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor, had high expectations riding on it, but the new Hindi movie has failed to take the box office by storm. Siddharth Anand's film has crossed the Rs 120 crore mark, but looking at the star power, it is safe to say that the box office performance is not what many might have expected, especially when you consider the favourable reviews from critics. In the latest Bollywood news update, Hrithik Roshan has spoken very candidly about being a star and the major roadblocks that come his way because of being such a big movie star.

"There are two ways to see it. One is, that I would fly as an actor if I didn't have the burden of being a star. That's one. But I think that time will come so I will wait for that. Right now, I am given this responsibility. It is a gift. Stardom is a gift, it's a responsibility. It makes you feel the pressure, that's what fills your tank. It's your fuel and it is to be used," said Hrithik Roshan in an interview with Film Companion.

"I am all up for using well. Use it well, you know, it's adrenaline, it's pressure. It's a lot of pressure. There have been many times when I have been unable to do something in a film because of the sheer awareness that I have to uphold the star factor in this film. So, I cannot go that way," he added.

Hearing this, Film Companion journalist Anupama Chopra said, "There are Lakshman Rekhas that you cannot cross, right?"

"Yes, of course. Also, you have to look a certain way, if that has been one of the ingredients that people have incorporated into the mould of you as a star, then you have to uphold that. You have to look a certain way, which is the most distracting thing for me as an actor because I rather spend all of that time deeper into my emotion than you know fixing myself on the exterior," responded Hrithik Roshan.

"As I said, I do look forward to the time when the pressure and burden of being a star is not there and the actor just flies. I have been able to do that in some of my films, but in films like Fighter and War, there is no escaping that. So futile to complain," he added.

'Fighter' is the second consecutive Hrithik Roshan film to underperform at the box office after 'Vikram Vedha'.

‘Fighter’, presented by Viacom18 Studios in association with Marflix Pictures, is the third collaboration between Hrithik Roshan and Siddharth Anand after ‘Bang Bang’ and ‘War’. The new Hindi movie is also the third collaboration between Deepika Padukone and Siddharth Anand after ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ and ‘Pathaan’.

The movie has the 2019 Pulwama attack as a major plot point. 'Fighter' has been praised for its aerial action sequences and the acting performances of Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor.
