Paresh Rawal Not Fan Of Ranveer Singh’s Acting Method For ‘Padmaavat’. Here's Why
Paresh Rawal recently revealed that he is not a fan of the method acting process used by Ranveer Singh for ‘Padmaavat’.
Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has starred in several memorable movies such as ‘Gully Boy’, ‘83’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’. However, his best performance inarguably came in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ‘Padmaavat’, in which he played the role of Alauddin Khilji. Earlier, Ranveer had revealed that the preparation for the character was so intense that the role stayed with him days after the shoot was over. Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has now revealed that he is not a fan of the method acting process employed by Ranveer.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, the host told him how Ranveer shared that after the shoot of ‘Padmaavat’, he was depressed for days, and the character stayed with him.
To this, the veteran actor said, “Agar aap aisa karte ho na bhaiya toh ye galat tareeka hain. Aap ke andar saakshi bhaav hona chahiye. Accha mujhe ek baat bataiye aap jitna bhi daaru pee lo maa ya biwi ke palang pe jaake hi so jaate ho. Woh saakshi bhav hain na.”
“Ye galat hain ki main role mein ghus gaya tha… toh kisi ko chaku maar doge aap,” he added. A video of the same has gone viral on Reddit.

Earlier, actor Prashant Narayanan, who played the villain in Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandez-starrer ‘Murder 2’, had also given his take on the comments made by Ranveer Singh, saying the ‘Gully Boy’ actor is not a “mind blowing” performer so he should stop lying.
“Wo jhooth bol raha hai kyunki wo koi aisa mindblowing actor nahi hai. Ya wo koi aisa mindblowing role nahi hai ki jahan pe aapko koi itna karna pad raha hai. Nahi yaar bhai, tu apna set pe aa, tera makeup hoga achhe se. Dil se bas kaam kar, ye dark spaces me jana ya ye sab karna, ye sab bakwas ki baatein hai,” Prashant Narayanan had told journalist Siddharth Kannan.
“Kahi na kahi justify to karna padega na, itne saare crore rupees mil rahe hai. Arre nahi nahi me toh 2 mahine itna serious tha, arre kyun serious tha? Hospital me tha kya? Kyun serious tha bhai, maine kaise kaise roles karliye yaar, mujhe to hassi aati hai jab log bolte hai,” he added.
‘Padmaavat’ was re-released in theatres on February 6 this year. It tells a 13th-century tale of Queen Padmavati (Deepika Padukone), celebrated for her beauty and wisdom, and her husband, Maharawal Ratan Singh (Shahid Kapoor) of Mewar. The story unfolds as Sultan Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh), driven by obsession and ambition, invades Chittor in his quest for Padmavati.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Ranveer Singh was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham Again’, alongside Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor and Tiger Shroff.
The actor is currently working on a project with R Madhavan and Akshaye Khanna under the direction of Aditya Dhar. He will also be seen in Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don 3’.
Ranveer and Deepika had recently welcomed their first child, a baby girl. The couple named their little one -- Dua.
