Preity Zinta Apologises For Being “Curt” With Fans At Dharamshala Stadium After IPL Match Got Called Off
Preity Zinta shared a long note, explaining the unexpected situation that occurred during the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamshala.
Bollywood actress and Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta has broken her silence on the unexpected turn of events during last week’s IPL clash between her team and Delhi Capitals at Dharamshala’s HPCA Stadium. In a note shared on X (formerly Twitter), Preity Zinta addressed the abrupt halt of the match, which was called off midway due to tensions between India and Pakistan. She also issued an apology to fans, admitting she may have come across as “curt” amid the chaos and thanked them for their understanding during a tense and emotional moment.
“Finally back home after a crazy last few days. A heartfelt thank you to Indian Railways & our Railway minister Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw for helping both IPL teams and all officials & families leave Dharamshala in a safe, swift & comfortable way. A big thank you to @JayShah, Mr Arun Dhumal, BCCI & our CEO Mr Satish Menon & the Operations team of @PunjabKingsIPL for helping co coordinate the evacuation of our stadium in Dharamshala safely & in an orderly manner. Everything was handled so well,” she wrote.
“Finally to all the people that were in the Dharamshala stadium - Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou (folded hands emoticon) for not panicking & for any stampedes. You guys are absolute rock stars. I’m sorry I was a bit curt & said no to pictures with everyone but the need of the hour was the safety of everyone and it was my duty & responsibility to make sure everyone stayed safe. Thank you for making it possible. Love you all,” she added.

For the unversed, the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was called off midway after air raid alerts were reported in neighbouring cities of Jammu and Pathankot on Thursday. The players and match officials along with the broadcast crew were then safely brought to Delhi via a train.
In a video that went viral after the match, Preity Zinta was also seen asking the spectators to evacuate the stadium after the floodlight towers went off one by one.
The BCCI suspended the IPL 2025 season on Friday owing to the tensions between India and Pakistan. Considering a ceasefire has been announced, it is expected that the tournament might resume over the weekend.
Meanwhile, Preity Zinta was last seen in ‘Bhaiaji Superhit’, which released in 2018. She also featured in a small role in ABC series ‘Fresh Off The Boat’ in one episode.
She will be next seen opposite Sunny Deol in the upcoming film ‘Lahore 1947’, produced under Aamir Khan Productions. It will also star Shabana Azmi and Ali Fazal.
The film was officially announced last October, garnering attention for its star-studded cast and promising storyline.
On the personal front, Preity Zinta married Gene Goodenough in 2016 and moved to Los Angeles. The couple welcomed twins via surrogacy in 2021.
