Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Animal', starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol and Triptii Dimri, released in theatres on December 1, and the new Hindi movie has managed to do a business of more than Rs 450 crore at the domestic box office. This collection comes amidst growing criticism for 'Animal' for its portrayal of toxic masculinity. Bobby Deol is being widely appreciated for his role as the antagonist in 'Animal'.

It is safe to say that 2023 has been a memorable year for the Deols as Dharmendra was appreciated for his work in 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' and Sunny Deol then created history at the box office with 'Gadar 2'. Now, Bobby Deol is earning praise for his work in 'Animal'.

In the latest entertainment news, in an interview with news agency PTI, Sunny Deol said that he loved Bobby Deol in 'Animal', but he did not like everything about the film.

“There are certain things that I did not like, which I don’t like in many films including my own films. But that’s as a person I have the right to like or not like but in totality it is a nice film. The music is very good and it goes hand in glove with the sequences. Bobby has always been Bobby, but now he is Lord Bobby,” he told PTI.

For the unversed, Bobby Deol plays the role of Abrar Haque in 'Animal', and he is shown to be an arch nemesis of Ranbir Kapoor’s Ranvijay.

In one of the scenes, Abrar is shown to be sexually assaulting his third wife.

When asked about this particular scene, Bobby Deol told Quint, "I’m not trying to promote anything. Yes, it was required. How do you showcase a character in such a short span, show what this man is capable of, what kind of person he is? All these scenes were required.”

Talking about 'Animal', the ongoing debate about the problematic themes in the movie continues to evolve each day.

While some people are finding the plot nonsensical, misogynistic, and problematic, others are saying that ‘Animal’ is one of the best Bollywood films they have seen in recent times.

‘Animal’, which has been accused of glorifying misogyny and toxic masculinity by several social media users, is doing immensely well at the box office. It is inching close to the Rs 500 crore mark at the Indian box office.
