Nag Ashwin's upcoming sci-fi epic 'Kalki 2898 AD', starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan, is one of the most-awaited Indian movies of 2024. Recently, it was announced that the pan-India film will be releasing in cinemas on June 27. A new poster was also unveiled and as soon as it came out, fans started drawing comparisons between 'Kalki 2898 AD' and Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya-starrer 'Dune'.

In the latest entertainment news, 'Kalki 2898 AD' director Nag Ashwin has now addressed these comparisons while speaking at the VFX Summit in Hyderabad.

At the event, a student asked the director, "Project K (the film’s working title) looks a lot like the Hollywood movie Dune when it comes to the theme and the art work.”

As per Hindustan Times, to this question, the director responded, "It’s because of the sand. They (another student) noticed the film has sand in it, no? Basically, whenever there’s sand, it’ll look like Dune,” he said.

In the new 'Kalki 2898 AD' poster, Deepika Padukone can be seen in untied short hair, in a brown outfit. Fans believe that this look has an uncanny resemblance to the look of Zendaya from Dune.

Talking about the 'Kalki 2898 AD' poster, the image sees Deepika, Prabhas and Amitabh standing beside one another, in what seems like a vast desert-like setting.

Earlier, 'Kalki 2898 AD' was scheduled to be released in cinemas on May 9, however, it has now been postponed to June 27.

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has been bankrolled by C Aswani Dutt under the banner of Vyjayanthi Movies. The music for the pan-India film is composed by Santhosh Narayanan.
