Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' Makes 11 Times More Money Than Vicky Kaushal's 'Sam Bahadur' On Day 1
'Animal' starring Ranbir Kapoor has set the box office on fire, while Vicky Kaushal's 'Sam Bahadur' performed decently.
'Animal' directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, and Anil Kapoor in lead roles, has set the box office on fire. Despite getting mixed reviews and some labelling the movie as highly "problematic" and "misogynistic", 'Animal' has managed to find an audience. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer minted Rs 63.80 crore across all languages in India.

As a result, 'Animal' has now become Ranbir Kapoor's biggest opener and the movie also holds the second spot in terms of being the biggest opener in 2023. The first spot is held by Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan' as it collected Rs 75 crore on Day 1. 'Pathaan' starring SRK is at the third spot with a collection of Rs 57 crore.
As per producers T-Series, the film's gross collection on its opening day worldwide is Rs 116 crore.

Ranbir Kapoor's previous biggest opener was Rajkumar Hirani's 'Sanju' as it had made Rs 34.25 crore on the opening day.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga's previous release 'Kabir Singh' had made Rs 278 crore nett during its lifetime in India, and it needs to be seen whether 'Animal' manages to go past this mark or not. Just like 'Kabir Singh', 'Animal' has turned out to be very polarising. Film critics have dissed it across the board, but normal audience reaction has so far been fantastic.
On the other hand, Vicky Kaushal-starrer 'Sam Bahadur' which also released on Friday, made Rs 6.25 crore on its opening day. This performance can be viewed as decent amidst the 'Animal' wave.

For the unversed, 'Sam Bahadur' is based on the real-life story of Sam Manekshaw, the former Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army and the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal.
Talking about 'Animal', the movie has already sold 10,66,988 tickets for the second day of its release, grossing Rs 28.98 crore, hence a mighty collection on Day 2 can be expected by the makers.
'Sam Bahadur' really needs to perform well on Day 2 and 3 to come up with a respectable weekend collection, else, the road might be tough for the Vicky Kaushal-starrer. For the unversed, the reviews for the movie are mixed, but Vicky Kaushal is being praised for his performance.
