'Dunki' advance booking: Will Shah Rukh Khan-starrer collect Rs 30 crore on Day 1?

2023 has been memorable for Shah Rukh Khan as his two releases -- 'Pathaan' and 'Jawan', turned out to be massive blockbusters and both Hindi films went on to do a business of more than Rs 1,000 crore each globally. The actor would now hope for a hat-trick as his latest release 'Dunki' finally hits the theatres. The Rajkumar Hirani-directorial released in cinemas today (December 21), and the movie is poised to do a respectable business on the opening day of its release.

For the unversed, 'Dunki' marks the first collaboration between SRK and Rajkumar Hirani. This coming together has been 20 years in the making as SRK was the first choice for 'Munna Bhai MBBS', but somehow stars did not align, and the role eventually went to Sanjay Dutt.

As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Dunki' managed to sell 5,58,766 tickets for the opening day, grossing Rs 15.41 crore. Now, if the movie ends up receiving positive word of mouth, then the collection for Day 1 might end up above Rs 30 crore.

Out of these tickets, 2.28 lakh tickets belong to the three national cinema chains (PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis).

However, it is safe to assume that 'Dunki's opening day collection would be lesser than the collection recorded by SRK's previous two releases -- 'Pathaan' and 'Jawan'.

For the unversed, 'Dunki' is releasing in theatres a day before Prashanth Neel's 'Salaar, starring Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Shruti Haasan.

On Wednesday, Shah Rukh Khan interacted with his fans on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, and he answered a lot of questions regarding 'Dunki'.

When a fan asked about the reaction of his wife Gauri to 'Dunki', SRK wrote, "She said it's a film to be very proud of and loved the humour."

On the work front, no one knows what SRK will sign up for next as he has not announced any project after 'Dunki'. However, there are rumours that he might have an extended appearance in his daughter Suhana Khan's theatrical debut directed by Sujoy Ghosh.

For the unversed, SRK's 'Jawan' which released in September 2023, is currently the highest-grossing Hindi film of all-time whereas his other release 'Pathaan' is the third highest-grossing Hindi film of all-time.
