Latest Bollywood Box Office report: Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara’s ‘Jawan’ achieved yet another huge milestone despite witnessing a dip on Monday.
Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan, whose last few movies struggled at the box office, made an epic comeback in 2023 after taking a hiatus following his last 2018 movie ‘Zero’. SRK had once said in an interview with Rajeev Masand that he doesn’t “have any competition” and these words continue to hold true even today as his latest film ‘Jawan’ has been shattering box office records ever since it released on September 7, 2023. Before ‘Jawan’, King Khan had delivered a hit in the form of ‘Pathaan’, which became the highest-grossing Hindi movie of all time.
And it looks like it's SRK vs SRK at the box office as ‘Jawan’ outperformed ‘Pathaan’ on its first Monday. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Jawan’ earned Rs 30 crore nett in India on its fifth day for all languages, as per early estimates. While Rs 30 crore may seem like a massive dip from its weekend collection, compared to ‘Pathaan’, which earned Rs 26.5 crore on its first Monday, ‘Jawan’ sure is racing ahead.
Following its historic opening, ‘Jawan’ has now become the third Bollywood film in 2023 to cross the Rs 300 crore mark in India. Yes, you read that right!
‘Jawan’ has achieved yet another milestone in just a span of five days. The movie’s total currently stands at a whopping Rs 316.16 crore.
‘Jawan’ had opened in India at Rs 75 crore with 65.5 crore coming from Hindi and rest from Tamil and Telugu versions. It went on to collect Rs 53.23 crore on Friday and Rs 77.83 crore on Saturday. The movie went on to make Rs 81 crore on Sunday.
‘Jawan’ has also achieved the milestone of being the fastest Bollywood movie to reach the Rs 500 crore mark globally, as reported by Sacnilk. As of Sunday, the film had amassed approximately Rs 530 crore worldwide.
With 'Jawan', SRK now also has the record for highest collections for any actor at the Indian box office in a single calendar year. Till now, with 'Pathaan' and 'Jawan', SRK has a collection of Rs 829.21 crore in 2023. Akshay Kumar is at the second spot in the list as in 2019, he had collected Rs 757.13 crore with four movies.
