SRK’s ‘Jawan’ Records Its Lowest Numbers But Still Significantly More Than ‘The Vaccine War’ Opening
Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’ recorded its lowest single-day numbers yet. Here’s how much the Atlee directorial made on its 28th day.
Shah Rukh Khan made a comeback in 2023 with ‘Pathaan’ after his 2018 release ‘Zero’ tanked at the box office. ‘Pathaan’, co-starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, minted Rs 543.09 crore across all languages in India and became the highest-grossing Hindi movie of all time. However, ‘Pathaan’ doesn’t hold this record anymore. Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’ managed to go past ‘Pathaan’. But Shah Rukh Khan proved that he is the undisputed king of the Indian box office as his latest release, ‘Jawan’, dethroned ‘Gadar 2’ within 24 hours, claiming the top spot.
‘Jawan’, which released on September 7, has been successfully running in theatres. The movie, directed by Atlee, barely has any records to break now. On its 28th day of release, ‘Jawan’ registered its lowest single-day collection yet, adding Rs 2 crore to its total, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
‘Jawan’ has collected Rs 615 crore nett in India so far, and today, it will likely pass the Rs 1100 crore gross mark at the global box office. The latest Bollywood films, ‘Fukrey 3’ and ‘The Vaccine War’, which released on September 28, hardly impacted ‘Jawan’.
‘Fukrey 3’ has so far minted Rs 62.93 crore. ‘The Vaccine War’, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, has been performing poorly at the box office. The film collected Rs 0.85 crore on its opening day, significantly lesser than what ‘Jawan’ made on its 28th day. The movie, which opened to positive reviews, is struggling to even cross the Rs 10 crore mark at the box office, with its total collection currently standing at Rs 8.15 crore.
Coming back to ‘Jawan’, the film opened with Rs 75 crore on September 7, and peaked on its first Sunday, when it made Rs 80 crore.
‘Jawan’ later broke the records for the fastest Hindi film to pass the Rs 100 crore, Rs 200 crore, Rs 300 crore, Rs 400 crore, and Rs 500 crore marks, before becoming the first Bollywood movie to make more than Rs 600 crore in India.
The Atlee directorial also stars South superstars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in prominent roles. The film, produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, also stars Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover, Priyamani, Ridhi Dogra, Ashlesha Thakur, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Girija Oak, Lehar Khan and Aaliyah Qureishi.
It also features Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt in special appearances. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan will be next seen alongside Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal in ‘Dunki’, directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The film is scheduled to open to theatres on December 22, 2023. It will clash with Prabhas’ ‘Salaar’.
