Teja Sajja's 'HanuMan' Performs Better Than 'Kantara', 'KGF'; 'Merry Christmas' Witnesses Dip In Box Office Collection
Teja Sajja's 'HanuMan' has emerged as an unlikely success story at the box office. On the other hand, ‘Merry Christmas’ witnessed a dip in collections on its first Monday.
There is no stopping Teja Sajja's superhero film 'HanuMan'. The new Telugu film, which has released in multiple languages, has emerged as the first box office hit of 2024. The new film directed by Prasanth Varma, earned Rs 14.50 crore on Monday, which was day 4 of its release, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. The film's total domestic collection now stands at Rs 55.15 crore while the worldwide collection is nearing the Rs 80 crore mark.
For the unversed, 'HanuMan' also stars Amritha Aiyer, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Raj Deepak Shetty and Vinay Rai. The film is set in the fictional village of Anjanadri.
As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, 'HanuMan' recorded a better opening weekend in Hindi than pan-India successful films like 'KGF' and 'Kantara'.
It’s #HanuMania everywhere: from North to South, from East to West… #HanuMan is UNSTOPPABLE and UNSHAKABLE… Continues its victory march on make-or-break Day 4 [Mon]… Collects *more* than Day 1 [Fri], despite reduced ticket rates *on weekdays*… This one’s NOT going to slow… pic.twitter.com/IGjpcEzCWT

For the unversed, 'HanuMan' clashed with Mahesh Babu’s 'Guntur Kaaram', Venkatesh Daggubati’s 'Saindhav' and Nagarjuna’s 'Naa Saami Ranga'.
Talking about 'Guntur Kaaram', the Telugu film earned Rs 14.50 crore on Monday, as per Sacnilk, and the total domestic collection of the film stands at Rs 83.40 crore.
Speaking of 'Merry Christmas', starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, which released on January 12, the new Hindi film earned Rs 1.65 crore on Monday, and the total collection now stands at Rs 11.38 crore.
The Sriram Raghavan film has earned good reviews from the critics, but the audience turnout has been very low, and it is unlikely that the film will be able to cross the Rs 25 crore mark at the box office.
'Merry Christmas' released in Hindi and Tamil, but the film has gotten very less screens in Tamil due to the release of Dhanush’s 'Captain Miller' and Sivakarthikeyan’s 'Ayalaan'.
Speaking of 'Captain Miller', the new Tamil film has earned Rs 30.45 crore so far. On Monday, the movie had collected Rs 6.50 crore, as per early estimates posted by industry tracker Sacnilk.
