Prabhas-starrer 'Salaar' is poised to make an earth-shattering start at the box office.

'Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire' directed by Prashanth Neel, starring Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Shruti Haasan, is one of the most highly-anticipated Indian movies of 2023, and finally the release date is upon us. The movie which is releasing in five languages -- Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada, will be hitting the cinemas on December 22, and it needs to be seen whether Prabhas manages to break his box office jynx to deliver a blockbuster.

Prabhas' last three films -- 'Radhe Shyam', 'Saaho' and 'Adipurush' have turned out to be box office duds. Hence, it is no secret that 'Salaar' has a lot riding on it for Prabhas.

However, as is the case with Prabhas' films, 'Salaar' will also take an earth shattering start at the box office. The advance booking for the film is witnessing an amazing trend, and it is for sure, that 'Salaar' will register one of the biggest openings for any Indian film in 2023.

As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Salaar' has so far sold 14,10,965 tickets across India, grossing a massive Rs 29.55 crore already.

The Telugu version is registering the maximum amount of sales and so far, 11,05,533 tickets have been sold in this version. In the Malayalam version, 'Salaar' has sold 1,09,913 tickets.

When it comes to the Hindi version, 'Salaar' has sold 1,01,329 tickets so far. And this is where the real competition lies as 'Salaar' is competing against Shah Rukh Khan's 'Dunki', which released in theatres today.

'Salaar' is poised to dominate the South market, however, it is a fight to the finish in the North. A positive word of mouth is the key to find out who amongst 'Dunki' and 'Salaar' comes out on top.

'Salaar' actor Prithviraj Sukumaran had earlier reacted to the box office clash between both the films.

"It's a holiday season and we are all film lovers, we're getting to see a Rajkumar Hirani- Shah Rukh Khan's film and a Prashanth Neel-Prabhas film; we all should be celebrating. I am so excited, I am going to watch both films first day," Prithviraj Sukumaran told news agency ANI.

"It's a holiday season and film lovers have two great films to watch. What a fantastic sign-off for a grand 2023 it would be if both the films go on to become blockbusters which I am sure they both will. I am looking forward to it," he added.
