'Salaar' starring Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Shruti Haasan will be releasing in theatres on December 22. Ever since the teaser dropped, fans were convinced that the film surely belongs to the 'KGF' universe as the colour palette of the latest Prashanth Neel-directorial was the same as Yash's 'KGF' films.

Prashanth Neel who is the director of both 'KGF' franchise and 'Salaar' has repeatedly said that his latest movie has no links with 'KGF', and he has now explained the reason for the visual similarity between these films.

In a chat with 'RRR' director SS Rajamouli, Prashanth Neel said that he has an "OCD with monochrome."

“I have an OCD with monochrome and that is somehow reflecting in my movies, which I realised only after I put out Salaar trailer and teaser. I realised that very strongly. This has nothing to do with my DOP, it has nothing to do with my art director,” he said.

“I realised that I have an OCD where I feel that when I put out my content it has to be with that colour. (Otherwise) I don’t feel like I am telling that this is from a world which is as gritty,” he said.

Speaking about trying to use different colours in his films, he said, “I am not brave enough probably to do that, and probably I have realised that this is not the best thing to do but this world deserves it.”

“It’s a coincidence that this is being compared to the previous world that we created but it has nothing to do with that. It is just my OCD which is reflecting is on screen,” he said.

Prabhas, who was also a part of the chat, said that he warned his co-star Prithviraj Sukumaran about joining the film because of Prashanth’s obsession with hairstyle.

“Many times he has stopped shooting for one hair," said Prithviraj Sukumaran.

As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Salaar' has so far sold 16,156,630 tickets across India, grossing a massive Rs 33.84 crore already.

The Telugu version is registering the maximum amount of sales and so far, 12,53,439 tickets have been sold in this version. In the Malayalam version, 'Salaar' has sold 1,16,884 tickets.
