Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana-starrer 'Stree 2' is set to demolish the box office on the opening day of its release. The new Hindi film which was released on the occasion of Independence Day, has opened to blockbuster reviews, and the film is now headed towards an earth-shattering start. In the latest entertainment news, 'Stree 2' has beaten 'Gadar 2', starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, to achieve a massive feat. 

'Stree 2' has now passed the likes of 'Gadar 2' and 'Mission Mangal' to register the biggest advance booking for any Independence Day release. For the unversed, 'Gadar 2' sold 2.74 lakh tickets, across national cinema chains, for Independence Day while 'Mission Mangal' had sold 2.71 lakh tickets, as reported by Pinkvilla.

As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Stree 2' has sold 8,24,483  tickets for the opening day, grossing an impressive Rs 23.36 crore. For the unversed, 'Stree 2' was released in cinemas on Wednesday, August 14, starting at 9:30 PM. 

As per Sacnilk, 'Stree 2' has now beaten Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone's 'Chennai Express' to score the biggest previews for a Bollywood title. As per Sacnilk, 'Stree 2' scored an estimated Rs 7.50 crore nett on its Wednesday previews, with shows starting from 9:30 PM.

For the unversed, Shah Rukh Khan's 'Chennai Express' had earned Rs 6.75 crore in its preview collection in 2013. 

Regarding national cinema chains, 'Stree 2' has sold 3,92,000 tickets for the opening day. As a result, the new Hindi film has registered the biggest advance booking for any Hindi movie in 2024, going past the likes of 'Fighter' and 'Shaitaan'. 

It is important to mention that 'Stree 2' is not a solo release this week. Akshay Kumar's 'Khel Khel Mein' and John Abraham's 'Vedaa' have also been released in cinemas this Independence Day.

As per Sacnilk, the new Hindi film ‘Vedaa’, directed by Nikkhil Advani, has sold 61,040 tickets for the opening day so far, grossing Rs 1.49 crore. For the unversed, ‘Vedaa’ also stars Sharvari Wagh, Abhishek Banerjee, and Tamannaah Bhatia.

‘Khel Khel Mein’, which also stars Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk, Fardeen Khan, Vaani Kapoor, Aditya Seal, and Pragya Jaiswal, has sold 47,202 tickets for the first day of its release, grossing just Rs 1.54 crore.

Coming back to ‘Stree 2’, directed by Amar Kaushik, the project will mark the fifth movie in the Maddock Supernatural Universe. ‘Stree 2’ is a sequel to Amar Kaushik's 2018 film ‘Stree’.

The plot of ‘Stree’, which was released in cinemas in 2018, revolved around a witch who abducts men at night when they are alone and only leaves their clothes behind.

‘Stree’ opened to wide critical acclaim and emerged as a box office hit. The music of the film also drew a lot of attention, with ‘Milegi Milegi’ and ‘Kamariya’ becoming raging chartbusters.

Made on a budget of around Rs 20 crore, the movie went on to do a domestic box office business of more than Rs 125 crore.
