Did You Know: Nargis Fakhri Was Not 1st Choice To Play 'Heer' In Ranbir Kapoor's 'Rockstar'
Did you know that Nargis Fakhri was not the first choice to play 'Heer' in Ranbir Kapoor's 'Rockstar'?
Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri-starrer 'Rockstar' is the most celebrated film of Imtiaz Ali's career, and the Hindi film also served as a perfect launchpad for Ranbir. The actor might have acted in other movies for 'Rockstar', but it is fair to say that the movie helped the actor in achieving fame and stardom. The movie received positive responses from all corners, however, the only criticism came for Nargis. The actress' performance was panned by several critics and audience. However, did you know that Nargis Fakhri was not the first choice to play the character of Heer in 'Rockstar'.
Yes, you read that right! It has now come to light that Kareena Kapoor Khan was the first choice to play this role, however, she was not able to do the movie, as she could not have been paired opposite Ranbir Kapoor in a romantic capacity as they are cousins.
According to Hindustan Times, Ranbir also acknowledged this and said, "She’s hardworking, passionate and has had the opportunity to work with many good directors, including Imtiaz. It’s unfortunate that since we are related by blood, we couldn’t act together."
For the unversed, 'Rockstar' was released in 2011, and apart from Ranbir and Nargis, the film also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Piyush Mishra, Shernaz Patel, Kumud Mishra and Shammi Kapoor.
The soundtrack was composed by AR Rahman. The film marked the posthumous screen appearance of Shammi Kapoor, following his death on August 14, 2011.
The movie is still remembered for its songs. The film also landed Ranbir Kapoor, a Filmfare Award for Best Actor.
On the work front, Ranbir Kapoor was last seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Animal', while Imtiaz Ali's latest film 'Amar Singh Chamkila', starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra is currently streaming on Netflix.
