'Salaar: Part One - Ceasefire', starring Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Shruti Haasan, directed by Prashanth Neel, continues to do good business at the box office. The new Telugu film has gone past the Rs 250 crore mark in India and it needs to be seen whether the movie manages to cross the Rs 500 crore mark. 'Salaar' has received mixed reviews regarding the violence the movie showcases. In the latest entertainment news, Prithviraj Sukumaran has defended the use of violence in 'Salaar', saying it is a creative choice.

The actor also said that if a filmmaker wants to shoot graphic violence for his story, he should have the liberty to do so.

“Our responsibility as a filmmaker is to make sure that we submit it to the Censor Board. How we make the film should be left to us,” Prithviraj Sukumaran told News18.

“The audience has already been told about a film’s certification because it has violence or nudity. Censorship should happen in the exhibition sector to keep a tab on who goes to the theatre and who gets to see it. As an artist, I’ve always believed that we should have the liberty of making what we want to. Who sees the material should be regulated as it is," he added.

Defending Salaar’s violent scenes, Prithviraj said, "The violence in Salaar is very much a character in the plot and it’s a screenplay instrument to further the drama. Without the violence, Salaar won’t be what it is.”

Talking about 'Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire', the plot of the film is set in a fictional kingdom named Khansaar. Prithviraj plays the role of Vardha Mannar, one of the governors of the city, who wants to become its king.

On Monday, which was the fourth day of its release, Prashanth Neel-directorial which also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Shruti Haasan, minted Rs 42.50 crore across all languages, taking the four-day total to an impressive Rs 251.60 crore.

When it comes to the Hindi version, ‘Salaar’ is continuing to chip away at the box office, and on Monday, the new Telugu movie collected Rs 13.50 crore in Hindi, taking the four-day total to Rs 65.50 crore. It is safe to assume that the Prabhas-starrer will enter the Rs 100 crore club in the coming days.
