Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR lit up War 2’s Hyderabad pre-release event with heartfelt camaraderie and a call for record-breaking box office numbers.
Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, along with director Ayan Mukerji and producer Naga Vamsi, attended the grand pre-release event of ‘War 2’ in Hyderabad on Sunday. Jr NTR and Naga Vamsi, who is releasing the Telugu version of the film, made it clear that the occasion wasn’t about Jr NTR venturing into Hindi cinema, but about Hrithik “coming into Telugu cinema.” In a video from the event that surfaced on X (formerly known as Twitter), Jr NTR warmly welcomed Hrithik to Tollywood.

“This isn’t just NTR entering Hindi cinema, it’s equally about #HrithikRoshan Sir coming to Telugu cinema.”#War2 pic.twitter.com/dPBicuh8kZ
In the video, Jr NTR said, “This is not a movie, as everybody is saying, of NTR going into Hindi cinema. But this is equally Hrithik sir coming into Telugu cinema.” As Jr NTR said this, Hrithik punched in the air with a smile on this face.
He went on to promise Hrithik Roshan that Telugu audiences would embrace him wholeheartedly.
“Everybody, each and every fan of mine who is here, everybody who hasn't been here will take you to their hearts, will take care of you sir. This is my promise. They will keep you in their hearts. Your responsibility is ours. Thank you, sir, all the sweetness, greatness and kindness,” he added, leaving Hrithik to respond with a heartfelt “Wow.”
In another clip from the event, Jr NTR acknowledged his South Indian roots and credited SS Rajamouli for bridging the gap between South and North cinema.
“I come from South India, and thanks to SS Rajamouli for erasing many boundaries between South and North, which are just films. But every South Indian has a doubt: 'Kya accept karenge yeh log?' Thank you for accepting me with wide and open arms, and for that beautiful hug you gave me on the first day,” he said.
Naga Vamsi further amped up the energy, calling ‘War 2’ a “proper Telugu film” and urging fans to make sure the Telugu version’s collections surpass the Hindi version’s by at least Rs 1.
As translated by Gulte, he said, “Looking at this electrifying ambience, it feels like we are not sending NTR to Bollywood, but welcoming Hrithik to Tollywood in a grand manner. War 2 is a proper Telugu film. When you walk out of the theatres, you will all feel proud of how director Ayan Mukerji has portrayed our brother NTR in a much better way than Tollywood directors to date.”
He reminded the audience of the love they showered on NTR’s ‘Devara’ last year and urged them to show “ten times that love” for ‘War 2’ to prove NTR’s star power nationwide.
“We all had shown a lot of love for NTR Anna on Devara’s release last year. We must show ten times that love for War 2 to show Tarak Anna’s power to the entire nation on August 14. War 2’s Telugu version must collect at least 1 rupee more than the film’s Hindi version’s net collection. The film should collect 10 times more than Devara. This is your responsibility,” Naga Vamsi told fans.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, ‘War 2’ will see Hrithik return as Major Kabir, facing a new nemesis, Vikram (Jr NTR), with Kiara Advani joining as Kabir’s love interest and fellow soldier. The film will release on August 14 in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.
