Mani Ratnam's magnum-opus 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' is continuing its sensational run at the global box office and in the latest entertainment news, the new Tamil movie has crossed Rs 300 crore mark worldwide. However, it is important to mention that 'PS 2' is trailing 'PS 1' in terms of collections. The first installment had entered the Rs 300 crore mark globally in just six days, while the latest installment has taken more than two weeks to achieve the same. "PS2 continues conquering the box office worldwide with a 300 crore+ collection," the official handle of Lyca Productions tweeted.

In India, 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' has registered a little more than Rs 150 crore so far. The new Indian movie which stars Vikram and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is currently facing stiff competition from 'The Kerala Story' and 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3'.
Talking about 'PS 2', the movie stars Chiyaan Vikram, Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Parthiban, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Sobhita Dhulipala.
‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’, which became the highest-grossing movie of all time in Tamil Nadu, ended with a cliffhanger, which had Arulmozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi) and Vandhiyathevan (Karthi) being drowned in the sea after a face-off with Pandyas.
‘PS-1’, which enjoyed a successful run in cinemas, managed to gross Rs 335 crore in India and Rs 500 crore worldwide.
Based on the 1995 renowned novel series of Kalki Krishnamoorthy, ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ tells the fictionalised story of Raja Raja Cholan and his ascension to the crown. The first part revolved around the early life of Chola Prince Arulmozhi Varman.
