The wait is over as 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' has finally released in the theatres. The first installment had opened in the cinemas last year in September and the Mani Ratnam-directorial became a huge blockbuster. And if the early reviews are anything to go by, looks like the second part will have the same trajectory. Many fans are raving about 'Ponniyin Selvan 2', and they took to Twitter to share their review. Some fans also labelled it "better than Baahubali 2".

'Ponniyin Selvan 1' had ended with the titular hero and Vanthiyathevan getting drowned in the Indian ocean. We know that help was on the way as Oomai Rani jumped into the ocean to save the prince. The biggest talking point is the identity of the ageing queen, who pretty much looks like the older version of Nandini.
'Ponniyin Selvan' is based on the novel series that goes by the same name, which was written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy in the 70s.
The new movie stars Vikram, Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Parthiban and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in lead roles. AR Rahman has given the music for the movie and one needs to see what the maestro will unleash with 'Ponniyin Selvan 2'.
The trailer for 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' had released on March 30, and the big launch event was attended by the entire starcast including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Vikram, Jayam Ravi and Sobhita Dhulipala among others.
